An extraordinary bronze helmet plate patrice, dating to around the 7th century CE, was recently unearthed by amateur metal detectorists on the Danish island of Tåsinge. This discovery offers important insights into Denmark’s influential role within the cultural and political networks of Northern Europe during the Proto-Viking Age. Notably, the helmet plate displays significant parallels to prestigious helmets previously discovered in Britain and Sweden, highlighting close connections and shared elite martial traditions across the region.
